Weekly Wrap-Up (#50)

Weekly Wrap Up Header

Wow, I can’t believe that this is my fiftieth weekly wrap-up! That’s a lot of wrapping up, haha!

Scenes From The Week:

Oh my god. This sandwich. So Brent and I love this deli down the street for us, but we only let ourselves go there every once in a really long while (this was the first time we’ve been in months), because, clearly, these humongous things can’t possibly be good for us, and staying healthy is a huge priority in our lives. But holy cow, do we adore them. They’re so fucking delicious. And they taste even better when you haven’t had one in a really long time!

I also made this healthy-ish chocolate banana bread this week that turned out so good! I barely ever bake because, again, calories, but I saw the recipe and I just had to try it out!

And, the biggest news of this week — Brent and I adopted a new kitten! His name is Samwell Tarly 🙂 (a character in the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin, which Brent and I are both obsessed with). Last month when Ivan died, we knew that we needed to get Ellie a friend to play with, but it took us a couple weeks to finally feel ready to add a new member to our family. But now we are so glad that we took the plunge, because Sam is amazing and so sweet. I couldn’t imagine not having him now!

Here are some more pics of him from this week!

I also decided that it was high time I finally sorted out and organized my nail polish collection. I ordered a rack to display them all nicely, and I’m super excited about being able to do that when it comes in the mail! In the meantime, I separated them all by color and got rid of some of the ones that were old, I didn’t like anymore, or were too similar to other colors. Look at how much pink I owned! (By the way, this picture is of only about half of my collection! I might be a little bit of a nail polish hoarder… :/ )

It’s taking Ellie a little longer than expected to warm up to Sam, but here’s a picture of them during one of their better moments…almost cuddling! Literally as I’m typing this right now, they’re growling at each other under the bed, haha, so clearly they don’t always get along. But it’s been getting better and better every day! I’m confident that they’ll soon be BFFs!

My friend Gen brought over some of this Lebanese pistachio cake and, surprisingly, it was quite good! I might have to steal the recipe from her.

    • Hahaha 🙂 You definitely should try it! I also usually make this Pumpkin Gingerbread in the fall that’s absolutely amaaaaazing. I think I’ll hold off until October to make it haha, but I can’t wait for that 🙂 One of my favorite parts of this season!

  1. Aww Samwell looks so cute, he looks like a great addition to your household. I hope Sam and Ellie will get along soon.
And that chocolate banana bread looks delicious! Might have to try making this once, I love both chocolate and banana.

    • Aww, thanks! Yeah, I do try to put some personal stuff in here. Like a little bit of a balance between stuff about me and stuff about books. That’s why I like doing these weekly wrap-ups, because especially with the photos, you guys can kind of get a sense of what my life is like outside of blogging 🙂

  2. NAIL POLISH. I have over 90 bottles D: I don’t even know what to do with them anymore. They occupy a shelf on my bookcase because I don’t own a polish rack. I really need to go through them and sort out which ones are too old/drying because I should NOT have this many lol. Eventually, I guess.

*o* I love sandwich shops. There’s one down the street from me and they’re a bit pricier than Port of Subs but their sandwiches are AWESOME. I can’t wait to go back.

Congrats on the new kitty! He’s so cute. c: But also condolences on the death of your previous cat. I hate when animals die more than anything.

    • 90 bottles of nail polish?! That’s crazy, haha!! You’re even worse than me 😛 Although I have no idea how many I had before I got rid of a bunch, so maybe we were the same level of crazy lol

YUM, I love sandwiches, too. This one was a Thanksgiving-style sub that had roasted turkey, stuffing, cheese, lettuce, a little bit of mayonnaise and cranberry sauce! Oh my god, just talking about it makes me want to get another one!!

Thank you so much ❤ It was really tough to go through…but now I'm just glad that poor Ellie can have somebody to play with. She was really lonely without him 😦

      • LOL the 90 bottles is a bit crazy and I should really cut back on them but it’s hard. I’m a bit attached even though I don’t like ALL of the colors. I’m such a polish hoarder, haha. 😛

I’m a HUGE fan of cold cuts and Italian subs. That sounds yummy though! I’m just such a picky eater.

Well I’m glad Ellie has someone to play with now. ^^ I’m a dog person and we’ve always had 2 dogs so I couldn’t imagine losing one and then leaving the other alone. Animals really love being in pairs.

  3. Really, this has to stop. YOU MAKE ME HUNGRY EVERY WEEK MIRANDA. Drooling over that chocolate banana bread right now… I wonder if I could replace the wheat flour with almond flour and use coconut oil instead of the vegetable oil…. Hmm

Samwell is so cute! I’m trying to remember which character he is in ASoIaF but failing… is the the one Jon Snow meets when he goes to that ice wall thing? As you can tell, I paid such close attention when I watched Season 1.

Can’t wait to see your nail polish display!

    • Haha I’m sorry!! I have no idea…you could try it? It sounds like it would interesting 😛

Thank you!! Yup, that’s him 🙂 No, it’s okay…He gets more prominent in the later seasons, so it’s understandable that you might not remember him just from season 1. Or the books?? Didn’t you read like 1 1/2 of them? haha
