Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR

Top Ten Tuesday

I like to plan out what I’m going to read each month way in advance, so these are my top ten books that I’m going to read between December and February.

I know that I’ll probably get some books for my birthday and Christmas that I’ll want to read more than some of these, but I don’t know what I’m going to get yet, so I can’t put those on the list!

These books have (mostly) all been released, so they’re not new books, just books that I’m hoping to read this Winter at some point.

Top Ten Books on My Winter TBR:

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

I’m so freaking excited to read this book. It’s not something that I would ever normally pick up, but I haven’t heard one bad thing about it, and I’m excited to challenge myself with a novel that I might not have otherwise read if it weren’t for the book blogging community.

Freakboy by Kristin Elizabeth Clark

Like I’ve mentioned before, I’m not really a contemporary YA fan, but I really want to read this book. I love LGBT fiction, and I’ve never read a book about somebody who’s transgender before.

The Dollhouse Asylum by Mary Gray

The Dollhouse Asylum by Mary Gray

This was one of my most anticipated books for this year, but it’s Goodreads rating and reviews have been very disappointing. But none (that I can think of) of my blogging friends have reviewed this book, so I still want to read it and make up my own mind about it. But I’m going into with low expectations.

This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers

I bought this book recently and have heard such great things about it. Apparently it’s about zombies? It’ll be my third book I’ve read about zombies since I read my first zombie book this past October, so I’m excited for another take on the genre.

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

Obviously!! I actually still haven’t read Unravel Me at the time that this post is being written (November 15th), but I will have read it by the time this goes live and I’m sure that I’m going to love it, and will still be looking forward to this highly anticipated read.

The Prince by Tiffany Reisz

The Original Sinners series is one of my favorite series ever (so far), so I’m beyond excited to continue with this third book. It might not be everybody’s type of book, but you should definitely check out my review (or at least the last paragraph) of the previous novel, The Angel, to see if it’s something you might be interested in, as I highly recommend it.

The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong

Last month, I read the first novel in this series, The Summoning, and really enjoyed it. It surprised me by how creepy and engrossing it was, so now I’m really looking forward to continuing on with the series.

The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp

I really like the actress Shailene Woodley, so I really want to see the movie version of this book, since she’s the female lead, but obviously I have to read the book first! I don’t really have any idea what it’s about, but I just have a feeling that I’m going to like it.

Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I read Obsidian back in September and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. This Winter, I plan on finishing the series (the books that have published, at least) to be all caught up by the time the fifth one comes out later on in 2014.

Reality Boy by A.S. King

Reality Boy by A.S. King

This is probably the book that I’m most excited for on this list. I haven’t read anything by A.S. King yet, although most of his other books are on my TBR list, and I love the synopsis behind this one. It sounds so unique and something that I would really be into.

      • Really? I’ve seen many mixed reviews and I’ve recently bought books that I end up not liking and I feel bad for buying them and… that’s why I’m not sure.

      • Well there are a few bloggers that I trust a lot when it comes to how they rate/review books, and they all gave it 5 stars! So it’s definitely a must-read for me, even though it’s not necessarily something I would normally pick up. But obviously no book is for everyone, and I totally get what you mean about having buyer’s remorse when you purchase and then don’t like a book…that’s why I love the library! haha

    • Oh my god I wish I remembered what happened in The Summoning haha. Ughh I’m going to have to read a synopsis. Damn my bad memory! It’s been like less than two months!

I’m upset about Dollhouse Asylum. I thought the blurb sounded like something I would love. I HATE when that happens…ugh.

  1. Ooh, so many good books on your list:) I still haven’t read The 5th Wave either, and I hope to do so before the end of the year. I also have This is Not a Test sitting in a pile, yet unread! Thanks for reminding me about them:) Here’s my Top Ten.
